This is how to keep your aluminium windows and doors in prime condition.
How do you clean aluminium windows and doors?
Aluminium window profiles can be cleaned with a non-aggressive, PH-neutral product.
In a rural environment and on façades that often come into contact with rain, cleaning the aluminium window profiles twice a year is sufficient. Windows that do not come into contact with rain or that are placed in a more aggressive environment: urban area, coastal area or in the vicinity of a railway track should be cleaned at least four times a year.
Use lukewarm water with REYNAERS CLEAN & CARE WAX for cleaning your aluminium windows. An extra annual treatment is recommended to prevent weathering by UV radiation.
The risk of discolouration is greatest on south-facing windows and doors. Aluminium joinery can be given a facelift with REYNAERS RENEWER. Also badly maintained aluminium windows can be given a second life with this product.
How do you maintain accessories and moveable parts?
It is advisable to inspect and maintain the accessories and parts annually.
- Check drainage holes and clear openings for proper water drainage.
- Lubricate hinge and locking points of windows and doors, brush seals and rails of sliding windows with REYNAERS LUBRICANT.
What not to do when cleaning your aluminium windows and doors.
Never use solvents such as petrol or acetone to clean your aluminium windows and doors.
Acids (e.g. vinegar) or alkaline products (such as ammonia or soda) are also not acceptable.
Make sure that you never treat your windows in bright sunlight or in extremely hot temperatures.
